Next Monthly Chapter Meeting - Tuesday, April 27

Our April meeting will feature a presentation by chapter members Dennis Coffman and Dave Cross on a "Fishing Study and Survey in Yellowstone National Park" in which they participated during 2009 as part of the Specimen Creek Westslope Cutthroat Trout Restoration project.  Bill Kosmer will also present a PowerPoint program on his adventures last year in YNP.  Please take note of a change in the meeting schedule.  The program will follow the board meeting which starts at 6:30.

OTHER EVENTS

Annual Conservation Fundraising Banquet - March 27

Our 2010 Annual Banquet will be held on March 27, at 5:00 P.M. in the St. Thomas Room of the Linglestown Fire Company, 5901 Linglestown Road.

Please mark your calendars, plan to attend, and participate in the only fundraiser we have each year. We held our banquet at this facility last year, and we received overwhelmingly positive comments about the space, food quality, items for bidding, and the opportunity to socialize with fishing companions and friends.

We need everyone's support and help to be successful in meeting our goals; the Rausch Creek acid remediation project, teaching disabled veterans all about fly fishing, expansion of our youth education programs, just to name a few of our more important activities.

Please join us on March 27th.  A banquet reservation form can be downloaded from the link provided here.

Clarks Creek Conservation Plan Meeting - April 7

The Dauphin County Conservation District (DCCD) has recently received a grant from the Coldwater Heritage Partnership to develop a Coldwater Conservation Plan for Clarks Creek.  DFTU and DCCD have teamed up to raise interest in the project, along with combining local knowledge of the creek and its aquatic community.  The Coldwater Conservation Plan will incorporate 12 months of water quality monitoring of various parameters, public awareness and concern, and recommendations for future planning and protection of Clarks Creek as a valuable natural resource.

As a first step in this process, DCCD and DFTU would like to invite all who live, recreate, or simply appreciate the value of this waterway, to a public meeting hosted at the Dauphin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center, 1451 Peters Mountain Road, on Wednesday April 7, at 7:00 PM.  The meeting will address details of the water quality monitoring portion of the project, familiarize attendees with Clarks Creek and its special protection designation as a High Quality Coldwater Fishery, and request local input regarding potential threats to its water quality.

We encourage you to attend the meeting on April, 7th.  Your input will help shape the direction of the Clarks Creek Coldwater Conservation Plan.  Questions regarding the project or the meeting can be directed to Mike Yanchuk at 717-921-8100, or by email:  myanchuk@dauphinc.org.

PSU Middletown Campus Earth Day Celebration - April 22

DFTU will participate again this year in the PSU Middletown Campus Earth Day event on Thursday, April 22.  Volunteers are asked to contact Frank Viozzi at 566-7920 if interested in demonstrating fly tying and casting, as well spreading the word about TU’s conservation mission.
